Marissa’s Bunny
New York City Day 2
Marissa’s Bunny
New York City Day 2
See, I told you I’d get the NYC pictures up this weekend. Vera’s doing a great job with Fairfax.
Marissa did the family wedding today and was adorable. She wore her blue sundress with an unfamiliar accessory- shoes! She wasn’t thrilled about the process, but she was a trouper as always.
Boy howdy, did it get loud. A Korean drum troupe stopped by, Lion, lettuce, and all. Dancing humumgous lions and the drums scared the crap out of Marissa and we were fearing seizure so Mom and the baby bailed to the reception lobby. I think they’re more oriented to outdoor performances. Wedding food showed up by the plateful, I scarfed down my chicken-esque plate, and headed out to spell Marissa’s Mom in the lobby so she could eat her fish analogue.

Honk!

There’s going to be wedding and reception fallout for a day or so. Marissa is super crabby, overstimulated, tired, and hungry. Hungry we can deal with, the other three she has to get over on her own. We always watch her with more scrutiny after a busy day, and the “hey, did you see that, is she seizing?” reflex is on even more of a hair trigger than normal. It might be a long night, but it’s all dependent on how she rebounds from the events of the day.
On an unrelated note, about the same time we found out the Wife was pregnant, we found out that one of the family dogs had bone cancer. This was a little close to home for me, as the dog joined the family one week to the day before I did. The dog passed a few months into the Wife’s pregnancy, but it’s sad that Marissa will never meet Em-Em on this Earth.

One of the gifts we received today from a Penny Arcade reader was one of two Basset Hound plush animals we put in her want list, anticipating buying it for her for Christmas. The second one already has a name selected by the purchaser, but this one we named Em-Em.

Marissa lays on her mat, chats in that baby way to the dog, then scoots closer and closer until her face is nearly in Em-Em’s fur. I don’t know how babies process things, I’m not sure anybody does. I wonder if it reminds her of the dog she hangs out with sometimes on the weekend, or it’s just something furry for her to check out the texture on.
I’m trying to get out individual responses to the emails, thanks to you all. I was considering doing them now for a while, but as I type this, Marissa is kicking away on her playmat, staring at her Em-Em, complaining in the way that only she can, and needs soothing. I’m off to go cuddle on her, and try and excise the demons of the day.
Does Dave let bunnies in?

New York Oasis - Central Park

Remember the Maine!
Even Marissa’s Dad isn’t old enough to remember when it happened!
Peering through the bridge gates into the park.
Look at all the people? Why won’t anybody make eye contact with me?
It’s not Yankee Stadium, but the boys here played with as much devotion to the game as the pros.
Thanks Mister, NYC gets hot!
Finally!
ooh! The central park carousel!
Yay! Bunnies can get in!
Carousel history. As with most everything in NYC, what you see isn’t the whole story.
These horses aren’t scary.
Hans Christian Anderson in bronze sits by the pond.
Hans’ duckling isn’t ugly at all!
Alice has a comfy lap.
This hat guy’s a bit nuts. I like his bunny, though.
